At KAEC Meeting: Saudi Pushes for Investment from Irish Universities
K King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Saudi Arabia organised a virtual meeting with Irish universities and other educational organisations to promote investment potential in the Saudi’s education sector.
The meeting was attended by the Saudi Cultural Bureau in Ireland, the Saudi Ministry of Education, the Saudi Ministry of Investment, and the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority (ECZA). Irish delegates from Enterprise Ireland, the Irish government agency responsible for growing and developing Irish businesses globally were also present at the meeting.

CEO of Emaar the Economic City, Cyril Piaia while speaking to delegates said that the aim of the meeting was to encourage Irish educational institutions to establish campuses in KAEC. He further added that KAEC is one of the most important Saudi Arabian locations, supporting the “national initiative” to bring in more international education institutions to Saudi Arabia.
A source from KAEC said that this is the first of several meetings with prominent institutions throughout the world, and it "highlights the city's willingness to help the Saudi Ministry of Education's efforts" to expand the education sector. At the virtual conference, the World Academy of KAEC was also mentioned; the academy presently has over 600 students enrolled, and the city hopes to establish additional independent schools.
