According to insiders, the grantees will have access to a variety of courses, including modules on diversity and inclusion, public speaking, and employability training, to help their students develop soft skills that may have been hampered by the pandemic.
The grant will also serve as the foundation for a research project led by Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, which will use data gathered from students and faculty to demonstrate the potential impact of metaverse technologies in education.
In an address to the media, Christophe Mallet, CEO and Co-Founder of Bodyswaps, emphasised the company's mission to improve education for traditionally underserved populations: "Immersive technologies have the potential to significantly improve education for traditionally underserved populations. This is the largest grant of its kind, and it will demonstrate the impact of VR learning at scale, paving the way for a more human-centered and egalitarian future for education."
Through the latest initiative, Bodyswaps and Meta Immersive Learning are demonstrating the possibilities for learning in the metaverse to institutions that would not have had access otherwise.
