IIM-Sambalpur to Develop Entrepreneurship Skills among Tribals in Odisha
T The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur, and the Center for Adivasi Research and Development have signed an agreement to develop entrepreneurship skills among tribal youths in Odisha, and provide them with quality education.
The MoU signed recently for multi-modal initiatives and projects on teaching, skilling, training and global outreach. “With the signing of the MoU, the IIM will now work to develop the entrepreneurship skill among tribal youths and work for their capacity building,” said IIM Sambalpur Director Mahadeo Jaiswal.
…the tribal youths will be taught how to link their products (crafts and agricultural produce) with the global market, which means equal space and opportunities for them…
This comes as good news as now the tribal artisans and craftspersons can learn how to properly earn a living from the traditional skills. The tribal youths will be taught how to link their products (crafts and agricultural produce) with the global market, which means equal space and opportunities for them. This also means an opportunity for quality education.
“Though there is reservation in educational institutions, one will not find many tribal students in the institutions of higher education. We will work on how more and more tribal students will go for higher education in good institutions,” Jaiswal said. “We will also take the support of the Ravenshaw University and the Central University of Odisha for this purpose,” he added.
