International Education in Western Australia to Get $41.2m Boost
T To boost international education in West Australia, the state government announced a $41.2 million package and a plan to collaborate with international education agents. In an announcement on 12th May 2022, WA International Education Minister David Templeman said, “International education is an important economic sector for Western Australia and the McGowan government is strongly committed to supporting the industry as it continues to reconnect with international partners.”
StudyPerth called the move a great one and is glad that the local government plans to engage with their partners and associates across the globe. Speaking to the press, StudyPerth CEO Derryn Belford said, “We are delighted with the WA government’s significant investment in international education and believe it is critical for rebuilding confidence in the sector.”

The Western Australian government has announced $6.8m to allow the continuation of the ELICOS Bursary and the International Student Accommodation Subsidy. The plan also includes a $3m boost to support the development of offshore opportunities and student pipeline creation through the WA Technical and Vocational Education and Training Consortium.
Through these measures, the local Western Australian government plans to boost the influx of international students and attract students that plan other destinations as a preferred study choice.
