Ireland: It’s ‘Back To Campus’ for International Students

I Ireland’s higher education institutions have launched a ‘Back To Campus’ initiative under which COVID-19 guidelines are given to the incoming international students for the academic year 2021/2022. Under this, all international students travelling to Ireland are expected to understand and follow the testing, vaccination, and quarantine requirements for entering the country. Guidelines for International Arrivals include rules for those coming from within the EU/EEA and outside.

The Irish Government has committed to Free Healthcare for International Students for any Covid-19 related illness

In the case of those coming from within the EU/EEA, if they have the Digital Covid Certificate, no further testing or home quarantine is required. However, they will be required to follow the public health guidelines. In the absence of a Digital Covid Certificate, one must provide a negative PCR test. Failing to do so will put one in the Red Status. If one is from outside the EU/EEA, one will need to check if the place of origin is on the list of designated states. In case of outside the list of designated states, proof of recognised vaccination is required to avoid further testing or home quarantine. If proof of recognised vaccination is not available, one will need to provide a negative PCR test, failing to do so will put the individual on the Red Status. In such cases, the individual will have to self-quarantine and undertake an HSE Covid Test after five days of arrival. The Irish Government has committed to free healthcare for international students for any Covid-19 related illness.

Students will have to wear face masks indoors and follow the national rules. Indoor activities are allowed, provided the rule of the capacity of 100 is followed. Lectures will have a limit of 300 individuals; in case it exceeds, the class has to go online.
