Launched by UGC, Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas Will Be Celebrated Monthly
A As part of the celebration of Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) today introduced cyber security and data protection programmes for undergraduate and graduate students.
The purpose of these courses is to increase awareness of cybercrime and make sure that all young people in the nation, regardless of their technical or non-technical backgrounds, can gain a fundamental understanding of cyber security.

According to the official statement from UGC, the curriculum "aims to create more aware, responsive, and responsible digital citizens, thereby effectively contributing to an overall healthy cybersecurity posture and ecosystem."
A source from UGC added that institutes are allowed to invite subject matter experts, industry professionals, or faculty members who are qualified in computer/IT security to teach these courses.
Additionally, MHA has requested that "cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas" (CJD) be observed on the first Wednesday of every month in all schools, colleges, universities, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and municipalities throughout all of the states and UTS.
The UGC has given the same instructions to all higher education institutions.
The appointment of a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at HEIs has also been mandated in order to ensure the successful implementation of the Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP) for thwarting cyberattacks and cyberterrorism.
