New Australian Education Minister Discusses Student Exchange Scholarships for Students
F Following the discussion over the slow return of students to Australia, post pandemic, the new education minister discussed how important it is for students to fully experience scholarships. Speaking at a dinner gala in Canberra, Jason Clare advised recipients of the scholarship to “soak up every bit of the journey ahead”.
It was recently announced that 102 Australian and American students, researchers, and professionals would be named as recipients of the 2022 scholarship, which will facilitate exchanges between the two countries.
In a published Tweet, the minister said, “We have some of the best universities in the world. International education is our biggest export that we don’t dig out of the ground. It has been smashed by Covid. We need to rebuild it. “He was referring to how Australia’s international education sector has been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the dinner, the minister discussed how international students can help the country confront skill shortages, mentioning that 16% of international students stay and work in Australia after receiving their degrees. “I would think that there’s a lot of good work we could also do in trying to match the type of courses that international students do here with skill shortages,” Clare said.
Mr Clarke further went on to say that at the moment, a lot of them are studying in business and commerce. We’ve got big gaps in our economy in the healthcare sector. If we can match that better, the benefits for Australia will be more.
