President Droupadi Murmu Says IITs’ Multidisciplinary Approach Aligned with NEP 2020
T The IITs' multidisciplinary approach, according to President Droupadi Murmu, is in line with the new National Education Policy. She said these things at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi's Diamond Jubilee celebration's closing ceremony (IIT Delhi).
The history of the IITs, according to Murmu, is the history of an independent India. "The IITs demonstrated to the world India's aptitude in the fields of technology and education. The history of the IITs is, in many ways, the history of independent India. The IITs have made a significant contribution to India's current improved position on the world stage, according to her.
She added that IITians are leaders not just in the field of science and technology but also in the fields of education, industry, entrepreneurship, civil society, activism, journalism, literature and politics.
…they now offer qualitative programmes in humanities, social sciences, design, management and public policy… this multidisciplinary approach is well aligned with the new National Education Policy…
Speaking at the event, the President of India said, “IITs have expanded outside their traditional strengths in science and engineering. They now offer qualitative programmes in humanities, social sciences, design, management and public policy. This multidisciplinary approach is well aligned with the new National Education Policy.”
President Murmu emphasised that the IIT Delhi is "encouraging research and innovation in a big way," and that the September 3 opening of the research and innovation park would help spur both growth and innovation. The new research and innovation park aims to develop an ecosystem wherein academia, business, and students can all share ideas.
