Quacquarelli Symonds: Ranks MIT as the Leader in its Graduate Employability Rankings
Q Quacquarelli Symonds, the firm which publishes the Annual QS University Rankings , has come up with a list of universities from around the world based on the employability factor. Graduate Employability Rankings 2022 lists out those universities that have demonstrated an ability to produce graduates with skills required for the modern workplace. Factors like employer partnerships, the performance of the alumni in leadership roles, and location-wise graduate employment rates have been taken into consideration.
“With students becoming increasingly conscious of the competitiveness of the global graduate jobs market… it has become correspondingly crucial that independent data of this sort is available to them”
American universities - MIT, Stanford University, and UCLA - have secured the first, second, and third ranks, respectively. Two universities from Australia - the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne - have managed to secure fourth and eighth ranks, respectively. Other British universities failed to make an impression, however, except for the University of Oxford, which is ranked seventh in the Top 10 list. “With Australian institutions performing better at the top than British ones… it is clear that it is valuable to shine a unique light on outstanding employability performance,” said Ben Sowter, Director of Research at QS.
Tsinghua University (China) and the University of Hong Kong ranked 6th and 10th respectively, thus making it to the Top 10. Institut Polytechnique de Paris ranked 12th, University of Toronto 21st (top in Canada), Mexico’s Tecnológico de Monterrey at 26th, and the American University of Beirut was placed at 73rd, highest ranked in the Arab Region. “With students becoming increasingly conscious of the competitiveness of the global graduate jobs market… it has become correspondingly crucial that independent data of this sort is available to them”, added Ben Sowter.
