Spanish Language Study Program ‘Expanish’ to Open a New School in Barcelona
E Expanish, a Spanish Language Training Programme has announced it plans to open a new school in Barcelona, specifically for students aged 30 and above. Commenting on the launch, Expanish Commercial Manager Murphy Scott said, “we are marketing the school as a mature learning space, where more mature language students can have a Spanish immersion program with others of a similar mindset.”
According to Scott, 30 percent of Expanish's students are 30 or older. He adds, older students are more mature and thus have different life experiences than those aged 16 to 29. Expanish has already had a language school in Barcelona for several years; however, the original location is only for people aged 16 to 29.
…having a separate school for those aged 30+ will allow our students in Barcelona to learn Spanish in a more mature study environment alongside people with similar life experience…
Mr. Scott believes that the 30+ school will provide a more personalised experience based on each age group's interests and goals, rather than having the older students participate in the same activities as the younger ones. He further added that this was the key to having a school only for 30+ students. “Having a separate school for those aged 30+ will allow our students in Barcelona to learn Spanish in a more mature study environment alongside people with similar life experience. We think this will ensure a more rewarding immersive experience for all our students”, Expanish Director and Co-founder, Agustin Vignale, said.
Expanish does not consider the edtech options such as Babbel and Duolingo to be competitors because the types of language education they provide differ greatly. The 50+ Spanish Language Programmes in and around Spain are the main competitors. Expanish Commercial Manager Murphy Scott believes that while technology has advanced in language education, nothing beats an immersive experience like the one Expanish provides.
