Study in Wales Campaign Targets Students in USA and Germany as Wales Scouts Europe to Attract Students
W With the competition fast progressing, Wales is doing all it can to invite international students from Europe and across the world. Government agency Study in Wales has recently launched a campaign to showcase Wales to the world, as a top international student destination.
At present, the agency will focus on Germany and the USA as markets. The two countries "have a long-standing relationship," according to Tracey Marenghi, marketing and communications manager for Study in Wales. "Our capital city of Cardiff is linked with Stuttgart, and several other towns and cities in Wales are twinned with sites in Germany." she was quoted as saying.
…by launching this campaign, we hope to attract more talented students from Germany to Wales who are looking to enrich their life with an adventure, as well as academia…
More than 500 German students are registered in the country's eight universities, according to recent numbers, with Aberystwyth University and University of Wales Trinity Saint David both seeing a rise in the number of German students in the last year. Tracey Marenghi while speaking to the press said that German students coming to Wales to study have always received a warm welcome and we’re keen to ensure this continues.
With some of the most scenic universities and some of the UK’s lowest living costs, by launching this campaign we hope to attract more talented students from Germany to Wales who are looking to enrich their life with an adventure, as well as academia, said a source from Study in Wales.
A multimedia campaign aimed at German students will run over the next ten weeks, emphasising the country's higher education. In May, a group of college advisers and independent education consultants from the United States paid a visit to the country.
It is hoped that the series of 30 second videos promoting study in Wales will reach over one million people in the Baden-Württemberg region, including prospective undergraduates, postgraduates, and parents of potential students.
