University of Toronto Launches Anti-Asian Racism Working Group
T To tackle the hate and racism faced by the Asian community in Canada, the University of Toronto is forming an Anti-Asian Racism Working Group. The group will include student inputs. The group's strategy will include consulting with students, faculty, and other members of the university's larger community to hear about their anti-Asian racism experiences on campus.
A spokesperson for the U of T (University of Toronto) said, “We want to invite their recommendations on how to foster a more inclusive and respectful environment for Asian community members.”

According to a University of Toronto spokesperson, a survey will provide anonymity for people who want to share their experiences but not be identified. The spokesperson further added, “The consultation strategy will include the use of surveys, focus groups and interviews to connect with as many people as possible.”
It was also stated that those who come forward, as well as community members across the university, will be able to participate in the Working Group "as they feel comfortable."
A report will be created that will recommend actionable steps to respond to anti-Asian racism on the institution's campuses, as well as document the experiences gathered during the phase of talking with the university's community.
