Ashley Furniture Welcomes 700+ Students to Their Facility on National Manufacturing Day

A Ashley Furniture Industries (Ashley) is celebrating National Manufacturing Day for the sixth year in a row by giving local students a tour. Over 700 middle and high school students will visit the company's facilities throughout the month. Ashley Furniture Industries will offer field tours for the first time after a two-year hiatus. The plan commemorates National Manufacturing Day, which is observed by manufacturers across the country on the first Friday of October.

The National Association of Manufacturers founded MFG Day to generate excitement about the future of the modern manufacturing workforce and engage students in order to demonstrate the exciting opportunities available in the industry. As manufacturers seek to fill 4 million high-skilled, high-tech, and high-paying jobs over the next decade, the need to educate the public about the numerous opportunities and career paths is increasing exponentially.

Ashley will take the students on a tour of their advanced manufacturing operations, highlighting the significant advancements made with robotics and automation. Employees from various areas of manufacturing will speak about their career paths, which include product design, automation, fabrication, assembly, quality, and other topics. Students will also learn about the significance of manufacturing and its economic impact on local communities as well as the nation.

North Pontotoc Middle School and Ripley Middle School are among the Mississippi schools taking part. Arcadia, Blair-Taylor, Eleva-Strum, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, Holy Family Catholic School, Independence, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School, and Whitehall are among the Wisconsin school districts that are taking part. North Carolina's Northwest Middle School-Wilmington and Texas' Van Guard High School are also taking part.
