…whether it be in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic or the consequences of the war in Ukraine, France has been able to assert itself an open and welcoming country over the past two years…

Sources say that the increase in students applying to France were due to the nation’s pro-active campaigns. With the aim of bringing 500,000 foreign students to France by 2027, Campus France and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation unveiled a new international student recruiting campaign in 2019. The government also issued vaccines to international students in France, making the process of living through Covid, a bit easier.

The 2022 report said, “Whether it be in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic or the consequences of the war in Ukraine, France has been able to assert itself as an open and welcoming country over the past two years.”

The Middle East and North Africa continue to have the highest percentages of international students in France as their countries of origin. In comparison to the previous year, France granted 21,259 visas to international students from Sub-Saharan Africa, a 35 percent increase, and 29,650 visas to students from North Africa and the Middle East, a 24 percent increase.
