China: New Oriental Predicts Competition for High-Quality Educational Resources

I In a recently prepared research paper, Chinese private educational services provider New Oriental has predicted high competition for high-quality educational resources. The report findings show that Chinese students are encouraged to look for chances abroad by their parents who have had international educational experiences.

The study showed that students who want to expand their horizons and acquire meaningful life experiences have also looked at studying abroad.

The report prepared by New Oriental says, “In 2022, 48% of students who intend to study abroad have already had overseas study experiences, and this percentage has been rising continuously for eight years.” The report further added that over 70% of parents intend to send their children to study abroad when their children are in elementary, middle, and high school.

An interesting fact from the research paper was that in 2022, 43% of the 6,800 respondents indicated the student was currently studying and staying abroad – a considerable rise from 2021 when 15%.

According to New Oriental, Chinese international students prioritise academic level, security, and recognition for future jobs when deciding where to study abroad. The report found that while the US is still the top choice for studies abroad, countries like Singapore, UK, and Canada are not too far behind.

The study found that most Chinese students who want to study abroad are not considering scholarships as the Chinese economy is improving and study abroad budgets have risen.

The New Oriental report ended the study with the fact that 86 percent of Chinese international students continue to pursue their dreams of studying abroad. Although Covid-19 impacted the world, Chinese students still consider foreign studies a choice because they think that by doing so, they are investing in their futures.
