Colleges and Institutes Canada Launches 3-Year International Strategy

C Colleges and Institutes Canada has unveiled a 3-year international strategy through which members exploring new international education opportunities will get assistance. Through internationalisation and global engagement, the strategy aims to "futureproof" the network of 142 publicly funded colleges and institutes.

CICan president and CEO, Denise Amyot, said in a statement, “The world is a very different place than it was only two years ago.”

…we will advocate for additional federal support for the unique settlement needs of international graduates…

Colleges and Institutes Canada said that the 3-year plan includes three pillars: "future proofing Canada; bringing the world to Canada; and taking Canada to the world," and it complements the organisation's 2019-2024 Strategic Plan. The strategic plan is intended to assist members in achieving goals related to sustainable development, equality and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

CICan has committed to putting gender equality and women's and girls' empowerment at the heart of its international development cooperation work, as well as to establishing an organisation-wide gender policy that will "reinforce gender equality principles and guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of all our programmes and activities."

The plan aims to improve international students' transitions by utilising targeted permanent residency streams. In addition, CICan will host a national dialogue for members and relevant stakeholders to "identify best practices and gaps in supporting labour market transition."

The document also stated a vision that reads, “We will advocate for additional federal support for the unique settlement needs of international graduates.”
