Council of British International Schools (COBIS) Shows Support To Ukraine

A At its 8th of May, 2022 meeting, the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) rallied behind Ukraine in its fight against Russia. A spokesperson for the COBIS said that the group was very much a supportive network for schools globally. The group has a total of four to five member schools in Ukraine and one of them is British International School Ukraine.

Speaking on the second day, Anna Azarova, PR and communication manager for British International School Ukraine said, “Some would still say that every war has socio, political, historical, whatever causes and contexts. It is not true. Because murdering people cannot be justified. And any war becomes very personal. Now, I know that for sure.”

British International School Ukraine CEO Anton Zastavnyi whose school was part of the meeting made the council aware that its principal, David Cole has stayed back in Ukraine to offer support to Ukrainian educational institutions. He called it a selfless, conscious decision. He also added how they plan to use British education, one of the best models in the world to rebuild Ukraine in the future.

Ending the meeting, COBIS CEO Colin Bell said that it’s so important to show our unity and show we’re thinking about the Ukrainian people. He told the media, “We responded very quickly [as an organisation] and it’s important as well for not just COBIS to be able to articulate that, but for those colleagues in COBIS membership from around the world who are gathered here in London.”
