Good News for Education Sector in France as International Students Hit the 400000 Mark

C Campus France has announced the largest increase in international students in over 15 years, with over 400,000 now enrolled. The news indicates that the country's international education sector is expanding. This week Campus France announced that according to the most recent Ministry of Foreign Affairs statistics, the number of foreign students enrolled in France increased by 8% in the academic year 2021/22.

While some attribute the increase to the economy's opening up, others believe that the success is attributed to the 2018 strategy, which aimed to attract 500,000 international students to the country by 2027. Some experts claim that the growth is driven in particular by an increase in the number of international students coming to France from neighbouring European countries.

…we have seen for instance an increase in the number of applications compared to the previous year in both countries, +40% for Vietnam and +12% for China, yet the level of applications remains inferior to 2019…

An expert that wished to be not named said that he believes the increase in international students is due to the quality of hosting services which institutions have been committed to following the ‘Welcome to France’ national strategy. He also added that students are attracted to France because of the competitive rate of tuition fees and the quality of life.

An insider from Campus France said, “We have seen for instance an increase in the number of applications compared to the previous year in both countries, +40% for Vietnam and +12% for China, yet the level of applications remains inferior to 2019.”
