Good News for International Students to UK: Government Resumes Priority Visa Services

T The British Government has resumed its priority visa services. This comes as good news for international students waiting to enter the UK. Priority visa services allow incoming international students to pay extra for a faster decision on their application ahead of the new academic year in September.

In March, the government abruptly suspended the priority visa service, claiming that it was favouring visa processing for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK. However, on August 12, the priority visa and super priority visa services for students reopened, allowing applicants willing to pay more to receive their visas in as little as 24 hours.

Stakeholders have applauded the latest announcement, with agents believing that it comes just in time for the new academic year.

…the resumption of priority visa services is a significant and positive development from UKVI that will help those international students looking to come to the UK in the autumn…

Amar Bahada, director of the Indian agency Meridean Overseas Education Consultants, was among those who applauded the UK's decision to prioritise visa services for students. He made a remark on the subject, expressing his delight. "I believe it has just arrived at the right time," he said, adding that a quicker decision would give students more time to book flights, avoiding costly last-minute trips.

Due to the backlog, British embassies worldwide have taken to social media to warn students that demand will be high in the coming weeks as course start dates approach. The government, according to a statement, encourages students to apply for visas as soon as possible.

"The resumption of priority visa services is a significant and positive development from UKVI that will help those international students looking to come to the UK in the autumn," said a spokesperson for Universities UK International. We understand that demand for student visas is high at this time of year, and with the start of the new academic year rapidly approaching, students should apply for their visas as soon as possible to avoid any delays."
