India’s Education Minister:NEP India’s Guiding Light for Achieving Vision of G20

D Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister for Education, told the other education ministers in attendance at a meeting that he sees India's new National Education Policy (NEP) as the compass for achieving the G-20 goals. He stated to the crowd that access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability are the new National Education Policies' guiding principles.

As per Pradhan, India is focusing particularly on formulating early childhood care and education, supporting children with disabilities, fostering digital and multimodal learning, providing flexible entry-exit pathways, and integrating education with skills, all of which are essential for enhancing learning outcomes.

…India has operationalized virtual schools and is in the process of setting up Digital university and over 260 channels dedicated to education in multiple Indian languages…

To expand the scope of education and also to realise the goal of making education equitable and accessible, he said, "India has operationalized virtual schools and is in the process of setting up a digital university and over 260 channels dedicated to education in multiple Indian languages.”

The NEP, according to the education minister, has paved the way for the internationalisation of education in India, and GIFT City in Ahmedabad is now open to the establishment of campuses by foreign universities.

India's education minister ended his speech by saying, "We are also in the process of bringing in policy measures for allowing foreign universities to set up their campuses across India. India’s commitment is to work together with G20 member states to establish an education system where learning outcomes match 21st century skills. "For education to be the driver of global growth, all efforts should be made to harness the full potential of our G20 Education Working Group."
