Mackenzie Scott Gifts Memorable $7 Million USD to the Student Leadership Network

A Author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has given the non-profit Student Leadership Network (SL Network), which works to achieve educational equity by assisting students from diverse, underserved communities nationwide to enrol in higher education, a $7 million donation. This is the second-largest gift in the foundation's 26-year history, and it comes as SL Network expands its services and programmes to reach more students across the country.

This generous gift supports three crucial initiatives and represents a significant investment in the work of SL Network.
- Increasing the number of students from underserved communities who can enrol in and complete a college degree, ultimately assisting in breaking the cycle of generational poverty
- SL Network equips school districts nationwide to use its tested college access and success models, bringing about systemic change.
- Codifying and enhancing the accessibility of excellent educational supports for girls and youth who identify as transgender or gender nonconforming.

…it is a resounding affirmation of our goals and ideal future in which no one can be denied the educational opportunities they deserve…

SL Network has been able to prioritise its growth, alumni support, diversity equity and inclusion, and career development goals thanks to the organization's successful outcomes over the past 20 years. This significant contribution enables SL Network to expand its best practises and scale its tried-and-true model more quickly to increase district and school capacity and give post-secondary success for all students a higher priority.

Airing his views on the tie-up, Yolonda Marshall, CEO of Student Leadership Network said, "It is a resounding affirmation of our goals and ideal future in which no one can be denied the educational opportunities they deserve.

Ms. Scott has now joined our incredible team of employees, board members, funders, partners, and champions, all of whom have contributed to increasing our impact on educational equity."

The Student Leadership Network's founder and president, Ann Rubenstein Tisch, continued, "I have always believed that public education can be improved, but only if we offer students and parents choices and models that work. With this donation, more students will have access to our resources and programming, which will enable them to achieve their goals and take on leadership roles in their schools, communities, and across the country.
