Meet 8BitCADE: A DIY Game Console that Teaches STEM

T Traditional education advocates for comprehensive and all-encompassing learning. There isn't much time left for fun because students are constantly under pressure to learn the next lesson, memorise the next concept, and take the next test. With such a model, it is evident that students frequently learn new material but forget it after moving on without applying it in any way.

With the goal of combining education with a topic that young adults find extremely interesting — and which is seen as a breath of fresh air — 8BitCADE was founded. Thanks to 8BitCADE, STEM education, which had previously been difficult to provide outside of higher education, is now widely available.

Young adults can use the DIY game console kits to explore and learn challenging ideas in electronics, engineering, and more through a hobby they genuinely love: gaming! By piquing their interest, 8BitCADE motivates students to learn otherwise challenging material and offers chances to encourage learning outside of the classroom. The kit will help students use STEM skill sets that they can use in their careers, much like how many students are very skilled at memorising game moves.

Early exploration of potential career fields is facilitated by exposing students to STEM concepts and those of other fields.

34% of students don't know what career path they want to take after high school, according to a Colorado State University study. The inability of students to experience a wider range of subjects is responsible in large part.

It became clear from a survey of students who built the 8BitCADE in workshops and schools around the world that projects like the 8BitCADE pique students' interest in subjects outside of the core curriculum.
