QS Rankings to Be Announced on Thursday: India’s Rank Grows from 29 to 35 in Two Years

I Indian President Ram Nath Kovind announced that India's rating in the QS rankings has risen to 35 this year from 29 in 2021. Speaking at the Visitor's Conference of vice-chancellors of central universities and directors of national important institutes, President Kovind said that increasing the quality of higher education institutions is critical to achieving the country's wider educational goals.

"This year, there are six (Indian) universities in the top 300, compared to four last year (in QS Rankings)," Kovind added. The 2023 edition of the QS or Quacquarelli Symonds world university rankings will be released Thursday.

“I am especially happy to note that the Indian Institute of Science has got a full score of 100 on the research parameter and shares this distinction with eight highly reputed institutions of the world, including Princeton, Harvard, MIT, and Caltech,” the President of India added.

According to the rankings, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru has received a perfect score on the research metric, putting it among the elite global institutions.
