Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Launches New BioInnovations Speaker Series

A A new BioInnovations Speaker series has been launched by the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, much to the delight of stakeholders and business leaders. Rosalind Franklin University sources confirmed that RFU's Innovation and Research Park will host the first lecture in the series, (Advances in Diagnosing, Preventing, and Treating Brain Diseases) live on Zoom on October 19. (IRP).

Sources have also confirmed that Jim Sullivan, PhD, CEO of Vanqua Bio, Murali Gopalakrishnan, PhD, global head, Search & Evaluation Neuroscience at AbbVie, and a number of senior faculty members from RFU's Brain Science Institute, including Director Amiel Rosenkranz, PhD, who will moderate the session, will be on the industry panel at the BioInnovations Speaker Series.

The second lecture in the series, "Stress and How it Connects to Mental and Physical Health Disorders," will take place on December 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Kristin L. Schneider, PhD, associate dean of research at RFU's College of Health Professions, will moderate the discussion.

The Chicago Medical School Assistant Professor Joanna Dabrowska, PhD, PharmD, whose lab investigates how repeated stress can result in long-term changes in stress-coping behaviour; Associate Professor of Psychology Monika Waszczuk, PhD, who has investigated the impact of trauma exposure on health outcomes, including 9/11 first responders; and Associate Professor of Psychology Brian A. Feinstein, PhD, who investigates the significance of mental health in people from southeastern Asia; and Professor of Psychology Monika Waszczuk, PhD are expected to be on the panel.

The first BioInnovations Speaker Series event for 2023, "Industry and Academic Collaborations," will take place on February 15, according to a press release.

According to Ronald Kaplan, PhD, executive vice president of research at RFU, "this new exciting speaker series, co-partnered with Lake County Partners, will debate key global healthcare and biomedical research issues that impact society, including industry and academic researchers."

The RFU campus community, including researchers and alumni, the general public, industry leaders and biomedical entrepreneurs, IRP partners and supporters, and all events in the series are free and open to all.
