Skills Bootcamp Launched to Accelerate Young People into the Jobs of Tomorrow

A Avado and BT Group have announced a new FastFutures series of programmes to assist 2,000 young adults from diverse and under-represented backgrounds in transitioning from education to employment. FastFutures, which launched in 2020, has already assisted over 6,000 young people in developing networks, gaining experience, and advancing their careers.

Following last year's success, this year's Fast Futures programmes will concentrate on closing the UK's skills gap in AI and related technologies.

While the AI industry has the potential to boost the UK economy by up to 10% of GDP by 20301, 63% of businesses are currently experiencing or expect to experience a related skills gap in the next two years.

…participants who complete the programmes will also be able to interview with one of the FastFutures Employer Network companies…

Besides Avado and the BT Group, other companies that support these include AstraZeneca, Agilisys, Barclays, British Airways, CBI, Contentive, Flutter, Health Education, Hive Learning, England NHS, Legal & General, London Stock Exchange, Modulr Finance, Salary Finance, Shell, Standard Chartered, Syncona, Tate & Lyle, and Trinnovo.

Avado has been awarded the opportunity to deliver four critical skills bootcamps by the Department for Education (DfE).

These bootcamps, like FastFutures, will upskill adults aged 19 and up by teaching them key in-demand skills in data literacy, data analysis, and digital marketing. These six-week programmes will help over 2,000 people gain in-demand skills that businesses require beginning in October.

Participants who complete the programmes will also be able to interview with one of the FastFutures Employer Network companies. The Foundation will continue to collaborate with the Michigan Manufacturers Association to gather feedback from local manufacturers to inform the development curriculum.
