U.S. News and World Report's Ranking of the World's Top Universities for 2022–2023 Released

T The rankings for the best global universities for 2022–2023 were released today by U.S. News & World Report, the world's leading publication for educational rankings. In the new edition, 2,000 schools are evaluated overall (up from more than 1,700 last year) based on their reputation and academic research.

More than 90 countries' universities are represented in the 2022–2023 edition. In terms of total number of schools, the following nations lead:

China: 338
Japan: 105;
United States: 280;
United Kingdom: 92
India: 81

The Best Global Universities rankings provide prospective students with a useful resource for exploring higher education options outside of their home country, says Robert Morse, chief data strategist at U.S. News.

Over the past nine years, these rankings have expanded to include more universities and topics while consistently focusing on institutions that prioritise academic research.

Four new subject rankings are included in this year's edition: water resources, meteorology and atmospheric sciences, education and educational research, and artificial intelligence.

The methodology used to rank the top international universities is powered by the Web of ScienceTM data and InCitesTM metrics supplied by Clarivate, a leader in delivering trustworthy information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation.

These metrics consider an institution's performance in academic research as well as its reputation on a national and international level.
