UC Hastings and Paragon Launch a Variety of Programmes for Corporate Attorneys

S Sources have said that Affirm, Dropbox, UC Hastings College of the Law, and Paragon Legal have joined forces to develop an innovative programme to support diversity and talent within in-house legal departments. The Paragon Legal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Career Connect programme will place recent UC Hastings graduates at Affirm and Dropbox in commercial roles that will introduce them to both the legal and business aspects of being an in-house lawyer in its first year.

With its novel business model, Paragon provides temporary or on-demand legal counsel to internal legal departments. The Career Connect programme, which enables recent graduates to work on high-level, significant projects, is an exciting collaboration between a legal services innovator and forward-thinking businesses.

…diversity, equity, and inclusion have been ingrained in Paragon's culture from the beginning…

As part of the selection process, candidates for the programme gave speeches about why Paragon's DE&I mission and goals resonated with them and how they would bring their distinctive perspectives to in-house legal teams.

According to Trista Engel, the CEO of the company, Diversity, equity, and inclusion have been ingrained in Paragon's culture from the beginning. He added, “Our hope is that this program will help advance a new generation of strong talent in the legal industry."

Participants in the programme were chosen and interviewed over the course of the previous year, and they start their engagements in September.
