Canada and Morocco to Collaborate for Higher Education Partnerships

C Canada and Morocco will join hands to forge a knowledge-sharing, long-term association. The partnership is not the first instance that the two nations have closely worked together. Both countries have worked together before on numerous occasions, the first around 60 years ago.

Speaking at a recent event, an attendee from Universities Canada said, “Canada and Morocco have a long-standing relationship and Universities Canada and its members understand the importance of fostering and deepening those relationships with international partners.” Morocco joins nations such as Brazil, Indonesia, and Mexico as nations that have forged educational partnerships with Canada.

Both nations have planned multiple programs and events to co-share knowledge and facilitate long term educational partnerships.

Mr. Paul Davidson, president of Universities Canada was one of the attendees at a recently held conference. Speaking after the event, he said,” Canada and Morocco have a long-standing relationship and Universities Canada and its members understand the importance of fostering and deepening those relationships with international partners.”

A key takeaway from the meeting was the introduction of the Global Skills Opportunity program for outbound Canadian students. Brock University, the University of Ottawa and York University are likely to be the first Canadian universities to launch the program. Speaking to the media, Mr. Arif Virani, Parliamentary Secretary to the Canadian Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion, and International Trade said, “Our government recognises the importance of education as a driving force for international trade diversification and the future prosperity of our countries as outlined in the Government of Canada’s International Education Strategy.”

This mission was an opportunity to develop and strengthen connections with our Moroccan counterparts, while setting the stage for long-term collaboration, said a source that is closely associated with collaborative talks.
