EdTech: DataHE Acquired by Times Higher Education
T Times Higher Education, according to news reports, has acquired DataHE, a UK university data analysis provider, in its third acquisition of the year. The acquisition will boost Times Higher Education's data science capabilities, allowing UK universities to "analyse and optimise their market position," as well as help with student recruitment and admissions. DataHe’s acquisition complements Time Higher Education’s existing data benchmarking and consultancy services for institutions and governments.
THE's CEO confirmed the acquisition, praising DataHE's strengths in data science and commercial focus. He told media persons that DataHe is the ideal complement to THE's existing offering as a data and insights business.
…DataHE is committed to assisting universities in making better use of data, with our purpose-built analysis products making a difference across UK higher education…
In addition to what THE's CEO said, Mark Corver, who co-founded dataHE with Andrew Hargreaves, stated that THE places the value of data at the "heart of what it does." "DataHE is committed to assisting universities in making better use of data, with our purpose-built analysis products making a difference across UK higher education," he added.
THE, which was acquired by Inflexion Private Equity in February 2019, has a clear mission of "supporting and enabling universities around the world to excel," according to a source from Times Higher Education.
"We want to improve the services we offer the market; we want to provide more value to our customers." This new relationship gives us a platform to do just that," the source concluded.
