EgSA and Egyptian Ministry of Education: Signs Cooperation Protocol

I If you are going to do something big, start young. Just like Egypt has done with its space scene and technology. The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) has signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Ministry of Education, under which, workshops will be held for science teachers on satellite education.

The training is aimed at enhancing the Egyptian space industry by involving state ministries and other stakeholders, by utilising research and educational programs. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Executive President of EgSA, Dr Mohamed Al Qousi, and Deputy Minister of Education and Education, Dr Reda Hijazi.

...the collaboration with the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) is a further investment for the students...

The programme includes the production of three artificial moon units (Kan Sat) for high school students which will help the students learn in depth about satellite systems, their workings, and how to collect data from them (satellite system). The students will get to learn about the functions of key sub-systems in the satellite such as energy systems, remote-sensing cameras, communication systems, etc.

Speaking about the programme, Dr Al Quosi said, “The moon will be dropped from a few kilometres by a balloon or a small plane where the moon can descend slowly. The students will be able to communicate with the moon as it descends by sending orders to it and receiving data from it wirelessly from a small ground station to mimic what is done with the real moon”, Dr Al Qousi explained.

Stressing on the importance of engaging young minds on the subject of space, Dr Reda Hijazi said that the collaboration with the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) is a further investment for the students. He believes that working on the human capital resources will only make a stronger sustained country. It was also decided that the capacity development programme will be extended to all science and technology schools so that space education is brought closer to everyone.
