Gladstone Institutes and CZ Biohub Form New Partnership to Increase Research Collaboration

A According to news reports, Gladstone Institutes and the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub have agreed to expand their research collaboration. The two San Francisco organisations will collaborate to uncover the fundamental mechanisms of disease in order to find new prevention strategies, treatments, and cures. Both are located in the Mission Bay neighbourhood, which is known for being a hub for health and biotech.

The new agreement allows selected Gladstone researchers to use Biohub funding to support their research at both Gladstone and Biohub's scientific facilities. Gladstone researchers are eligible to apply to become CZ Biohub Investigators.

According to Joe DeRisi, PhD, president of CZ Biohub, "Gladstone has distinguished itself as a top biomedical research institution for decades, and Biohub scientists have routinely worked with Gladstone's talented researchers." These interactions will become even more active and fruitful thanks to this new affiliation.

…I believe we will successfully accelerate the pace of our discoveries and help make a meaningful impact on medicine and healthcare through our research by combining our unique strengths…

Gladstone researchers who are appointed as CZ Biohub Investigators can now access resources to take part in research at both organisations thanks to a new affiliation agreement. In order to support their research, these investigators can also hire postdoctoral fellows and staff to work at the Biohub's facilities.

The Gladstone Institute's current Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigators include bioengineer Seth Shipman, PhD, data scientist Katie Pollard, MD, and virologist Melanie Ott, PhD.

According to Gladstone Chief Operating Officer Robert Obana, MBA, "CZ Biohub is known for being exceptionally collaborative, which is a value we share at Gladstone." "I believe we will successfully accelerate the pace of our discoveries and help make a meaningful impact on medicine and healthcare through our research by combining our unique strengths," the author says.
