Honda and COSI Announce Release of a New Engineering Learning LunchBox

H Honda and the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) are teaming up to launch the Honda Engineering Roadshow. The nationwide initiative will provide 20,000 hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) kits called Engineering Learning Lunchboxes to students from kindergarten to eighth grade. The kits will be distributed in collaboration with local food banks across the country to help feed hungry lives and hungry minds.

In collaboration with Honda, the first Acura NSX Type S supercar was auctioned to raise funds for the new LunchBox.

Honda donated every penny from the sale of the first Acura NSX Type S built in serial form, which sold for $1.1 million at auction, to charity, including COSI, to support STEAM education for young people across the US.

…the goal of our Honda Engineering Roadshow partnership with COSI is to inspire young people to consider a STEAM career path…

Each Engineering Learning Lunchbox includes five engineering-focused learning activities and 10 hours of STEAM content, showcasing the range of STEAM careers at Honda, from electrical engineering to aerospace.

In order to emphasise the value of engineering education for future career opportunities at cutting-edge manufacturing companies like Honda, it also includes a game called "Honda Career Connections."

"The goal of our Honda Engineering Roadshow partnership with COSI is to inspire young people to consider a STEAM career path," said Yvette Hunsicker, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility and Inclusion & Diversity at American Honda Motor Co.

Over the course of the following year, the Honda Engineering Roadshow will make stops from California to North Carolina.

In order to feed hungry people and hungry minds, 20,000 Engineering Learning Lunchboxes will be distributed nationwide in collaboration with regional food banks.

To emphasise the significance of STEAM, this ground-breaking, community-based model will unite other science museums and centres, after-school programmes, and community leaders.
