IDP & Unibuddy Partner to Launch Student App

U Unibuddy Discover, a new buddy to a buddy chat app, was recently launched by IDP and Unibuddy. The collaborative app aims to help those planning to study in the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand get answers to questions they might have.

The app is designed to let students connect with professors and students already in the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Through the app, students can gain access to information on settling down and even the entire admissions process.

Simon Emmett, the IDP Connect CEO said, “We are delighted to offer this free service to prospective students, supporting them as they choose their higher education options, one of the most important decisions of their lives. This partnership will also support our university partners, allowing them to showcase their student ambassadors and their experiences to an engaged audience of actively researching prospective students.”

…we’re giving our 500+ university partners another route to access prospective students from diverse backgrounds, and allowing every young person access to the best advice and guidance on their journey to higher education…

The Unibuddy app is available for download on IDP’s flagship advice websites; WhatUni and all Hotcourses international websites. The app will have students from colleges and universities such as King’s College London, NYU Tandom, Erasmus University, and more.

At the moment around 800 universities and colleges have signed up for the tie-up. Speaking about the app’s launch, Mr Emmett said, “Everything we do at IDP Education is about putting students first. We are guided by the needs and interests of prospective students, and this has over the years ensured that we deliver the best service for them. I believe our new partnership with Unibuddy will deliver a service that is highly valued by prospective students: hearing directly from current students about their study experiences via real-time chats.”

Diego Farana, CEO and co-founder of Unibuddy termed the app’s student-first approach to recruitment as next level. He said the app represents a new milestone toward our mission to transform the way students and universities connect with one another. We’re giving our 500+ university partners another route to access prospective students from diverse backgrounds, and allowing every young person access to the best advice and guidance on their journey to higher education.

A study by Unibuddy and Instead found that 57% of students said speaking with an institution’s student ambassadors was the most helpful resource for choosing a university. Through the app, IDP and Unibuddy plan to close the gap of communication between students waiting to apply to foreign universities and those already studying abroad.
