Singapore University of Technology and Design Signs Research Collaboration Agreement with Tecnológico de Monterrey

T Through its Institute for the Future of Education, the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Tecnológico de Monterrey (Tec) signed a research collaboration agreement to improve the cyber physical learning of students and teachers in Singapore and Mexico.

Through this three-year agreement, both parties will share practices and experiences in the configuration and use of cyber-physical learning infrastructure in order to create new opportunities for educational innovation and research, resulting in new educational pathways for the future.

The Institute for the Future of Education agreement between SUTD and Tec will promote the exchange and sharing of cyber physical learning practises, as well as the evaluation of the effectiveness of associated educational delivery models.

…Tec and SUTD share a common vision of cyber-physical learning, as well as common interests and understanding of the challenges of applying human-centric technology and design to the practise of pedagogy and andragogy in actual higher learning environments…

Both parties will conduct joint experiments involving students and instructors to explore domains such as technology-enabled learning, translational pedagogical innovations, learning analytics, and personalised and engaging learning.

The research collaboration will be centred on the SUTD campusX initiative, which focuses on the needs and experiences of students and instructors through the use of data analytics and learning sciences in order to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for students to learn, interact, and optimise their learning outcomes.

Concerning campusX and its impact on the future of education, SUTD Provost Professor Phoon Kok Kwang stated: "Tec and SUTD share a common vision of cyber-physical learning, as well as common interests and understanding of the challenges of applying human-centric technology and design to the practise of pedagogy and andragogy in actual higher learning environments.

This provides a solid foundation for many more projects between Tec and SUTD. The current research collaboration is an important first step, and SUTD looks forward to expanding its partnership with Tec in the coming years. Similarly, SUTD is excited to collaborate with more like-minded partners from academia and industry, both locally and globally, to make cyber-physical learning a reality."
