Study in Wales Partners with National Hockey Team as Shirt Sponsor

I In order to promote Wales as a destination for higher education, the government-backed organisation Study in Wales has partnered with the Wales national hockey team to act as its lead shirt sponsor. There are projected to be 12.4 million viewers for the World Cup.
The team will participate in the FIH Hockey World Cup in India in January 2023 for the first time, and their uniforms will bear the Study in Wales logo created by the Global Wales partnership. Study in Wales wants to advertise their services through sponsorship in nations like India, the United States, Vietnam, and the European Union.
"This partnership is another welcome step for Study in Wales, sports diplomacy, and the ongoing development of our relationship with India," said Iwan Davies, chair of Global Wales, in response to the sponsorship.

According to a Study Wales source, field hockey is played in more than 100 countries and has more than 2 billion fans worldwide. The World Cup is anticipated to draw 12.4 million viewers.
According to Davies, Wales' participation in the hockey world cup presents "even more opportunities to promote Wales as a study destination," particularly in enticing Indian students to "take advantage of the unique opportunities on offer at Welsh universities."

The top teams from Germany, England, the Netherlands, and Australia will compete alongside the Welsh team in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, India. Speaking about the partnership, Ria Burrage-Male, chief executive of Hockey Wales, stated, “We’re delighted to partner with Study in Wales, a likeminded and passionate Welsh brand which, like Hockey Wales, is dedicated towards ensuring Wales has a prominent position on the global stage and showcasing the nation’s talent and opportunities.”
