Two Giant Educators Collaborate to Launch New Fund

T The AIFS and CIEE have partnered together to form a new fund that caters exclusively to the international education sector. Launched by what is believed to be the biggest names in the US education sector, the fund will see $100,000 pumped, over the next three years, in programs aimed at benefiting the global education sector.
CIEE CEO and president James P. Pellow, a key figure in the deal, was quoted as saying that now is the time to double our investment in training the next generation of exceptional leaders in international education programs. He further stated that the fund is designed especially for those young professionals who will serve as role models for America’s future leaders.

Titled Ping-Taylor Professionals Fellows Grant, the program grants enrolees to attend the Forum on Education Abroad, Diversity Abroad and NAFSA: Association for International Educators, which is taking place this year between May 31 - June 3. Speaking to the media, chairman of AIFS, William L. Gertz said, “This will be an important step for international education and study abroad during this very critical time.” He added that the grant will enable students enrolled to be prepared by staying up-to-date on latest developments in the field.

The program is open to all US-based professionals, including those living abroad, with special emphasis on individuals from diverse backgrounds and individuals who are employed at MSIs, HSIs and HBCUs. Speaking about the grant, a member close to the group stated, “Our field has been decimated by Covid – university positions have been cut as well as professional development opportunities.”
