University of Florida and Dr Timothy Garrett Collaborate with Capitainer
C Capitainer a medical technology start-up, has revealed that it signed a collaboration agreement with Timothy J. Garrett Laboratory and the University of Florida's College of Medicine. The news was broken via a press release a few days ago.
Through the partnership, Capitainer hopes to expand its network of cooperating partners to include the extensive network of partners at the University of Florida, including clinics there and elsewhere.
The partnership will also profit from Dr. Tim Garrett's experience as one of the foremost US authorities on using mass spectrometry in the field of metabolomics and its clinical applications, as well as from the network of the University of Florida.
…if we were successful, the landscape of medical diagnostics would change…
With its superior usability, volumetric accuracy, and precision, Capitainer's improved self-sampling product will speed up method development and pave the way for the broader use of qDBS technology in clinical diagnosis. Since there aren't many labs that can provide quick results for micro samples collected at home, this is welcome news.
Dr Timothy Garrett, an associate professor in the university's Department of Pathology, Immunology, and Laboratory Medicine expressed excitement about developing precision diagnostics that will enable future health care and looked forward to this collaborative effort."If we were successful, the landscape of medical diagnostics would change." he added.
Capitainer's qDBS-sampling technology has been validated in real-world population studies. No less than 97% of the cards sent back by regular mail to the lab met the approved quality standard for analysis. Additionally, a major study published in Clinica Chimica Acta on the advantages of volumetric micro-sampling DBS devices in monitoring patients with phenylketonuria (PKU), demonstrated conclusively the superiority of Capitainer's solution over conventional cards and competition.
As a result of the collaboration, front-line supervisors, middle managers, and senior leaders will have much greater access to quality certifications. The collaboration is an excellent opportunity for them to hone their skills and assist businesses in developing a skilled workforce.
