After Third Round of FYJC Admission: Maharashtra Sees Over 2 Lakh Vacant Seats

At the conclusion of the third round of the Centralised Admission Process, more than 2 lakh of the 3.7 lakh seats in the First Year Junior College (FYJC = Class XI) remain unfilled (CAP). Sources have said that more than 1.4 lakh seats will become available for the special round of admission, which will be the last CAP round. The rest of the seats are for quota admissions, including those under in-house, minority or management quotas.

Bezos Family Foundation Grant to PBLWorks: $2.9 Million

The Bezos Family Foundation awarded the Buck Institute for Education (dba PBLWorks) a $2.9 million grant to develop an innovative social studies and civics curriculum based on the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model. The new PBL units are being created for teachers in grades 4–12 and will be freely available as Open Educational Resources (OER). The curriculum units are being developed in collaboration with teachers in Colorado and California, as well as experts in culturally responsive teaching and a curriculum design team at the Buck Institute for Education (BIE).

In a Boost to Climate Research: New Scottish Program Launched

A new global scholarship programme with a strong focus on climate change has been launched by British Council Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities. According to the Director of the British Council Scotland Leigh Gibson the scholarships will "generate powerful collaborations between art, humanities, and education to address the significant global issue of climate change."

In what is termed as the most competitive year in a decade, many students have been left scrambling for admissions to top UK universities, this according to the latest data from the A-level results. According to news reports, 6,640 UK school-leavers found admissions through clearing, a 33% increase from 2021. In addition, around 23,640 students accepted their insurance choices after failing to achieve their preferred admittance.
