Zovio Sells Its Tutoring Services to GoGuardian

Chandler-based education technology company Zovio announced that it sold its tutoring services business to GoGuardian, a K-12-focused EdTech platform, for $55 million. The sale was always likely to be complete after it came to light that Zovio leaders decided to explore selling segments of the business.

English Skill Test Approved for Irish Qualification

The Irish government has approved the Scottish Qualifications Authority’s and the PSI’s B1 and B2 Four Facet Skills for English language tests for student visa application. Students applying for a visa for studies in Ireland will now have to pass the Skills for English: SELT or Skills for English: Global tests to complete visa applications.

Striking UK Universities Set to Cool Off Protests Over Pay and Working Conditions

Universities in United Kingdom that were protesting poor working conditions and pension cuts seem to be cancelling their plans of a mega protest next week. Inconvenience to graduating students was the reason some unions decided to stop protests. According to sources, around 41 branches of university unions have decided to call off their strike slated for next week. The source further added that only 20 union branches plan to continue the protest.

To boost international education in West Australia, the state government announced a $41.2 million package and a plan to collaborate with international education agents. In an announcement on 12th May 2022, WA International Education Minister David Templeman said, “International education is an important economic sector for Western Australia and the McGowan government is strongly committed to supporting the industry as it continues to reconnect with international partners.”
